About The Blue Box

The Blue Box Busselton for all your craft, quilting and general sewing needsBack in the 1970s, The Blue family owned the local newsagents in the seaside town of Busselton, located on the shores of Geographe Bay in Western Australia.

Miss Muriel Blue, with her passion for craft, used to sell wool and embroidery from a little corner of the family store. The demand was high, so in 1978 she opened The Blue Box, down the road from the family store.

It became a popular icon of the town, meeting the needs of craft minded women from Busselton and the surrounding South West region. After Miss Blue retired the store remained popular, always mindful of her original dream of making sure people in her town had access to the supplies they needed for their crafts.

In 1999, the store was bought by three local ladies - and has continued its tradition of being a family business. The Blue Box is owned by Annette Graham, her sister Christine Leslie, and Christine's daughter, Deanne Smith.

Over fifteen years the business has diversified, offering patchwork, quiltery, knitting, handbags, kits and patterns. They even have their own special Blue Box designs.

Realising that the best way to keep a tradition alive, is to look forward to the future, The Blue Box has developed into an exciting online community and shopping experience.

Nothing is lost in this process though. Those that use The Blue Box online, or in store, can be assured of the same good old country service that the business has offered since it began.
